Natalie Kossack makes functional pottery intended for everyday use. Natalie has been working with clay for more than 10 years. She currently resides in Delmar, New York and teaches pottery classes at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy. When she’s not making pots, she enjoys hiking and traveling with her husband and two young sons.
“I have always had a deep love and reverence for handmade objects, and for me, pottery is the perfect intersection of art and function. I work primarily on the potter’s wheel, making utilitarian forms intended for everyday use. My work is inspired by traditional forms intended to stand the test of time, but I am always playing with new techniques and styles. I love that clay offers an endless array of opportunities to experiment with form, surface, and function. Most recently, I have discovered the meditative nature of carving clay. I am drawn to the repetition of marks and how simple lines can create a beautiful and complex surface. I love to think of my pottery being used all over the country and sincerely hope it brings joy to all those that use it.”
